Baishui Zai Waterfall Hike

This waterfall is located close to Guangzhou, China, about two hours drive from Shenzhen. Okay, I gotta be honest at the start - this is a man made waterfall, so if you actually make it up on the top then you gonna see the mega pipe pouring all that water down the hill… sorry…

It’s something to do if you’re in the area already but I wouldn’t go out of my way to visit here just for this - I happened to spend the weekend in a nearby Conghua Hot Spring Town, and that why I came over for a day hike.

Anyways, the hike up there is a good one - the path is a pleasant enough attraction, however like many things in Guangdong, it is very crowded during the weekends and national holidays.

The lookouts are rather instaworthy.

It’s quite well constructed but the hike is primarily 5000 concrete steps to the top (and back down again) which is very challenging after a while. Each scenic viewpoint on the way is a social media photo opportunity so forget trying to pretend you’re alone in the wilderness.

Its a good day sweating exercise if you are as into day hikes like I am.

The start of the hike

The pure white waterfall is divided into three sections with different shapes and features from the top to the bottom. The upper section looks like a dragon dancing in the air; the middle one is like a huge silk curtain hanging on the mountains; while the lowest one looks like thousands of white pearls scattered in the green woods.

View over the Southern Kun mountains in Guangdong is worth the hike though

Lonely Wish is still a wish
