Mount Buller
Mount Buller is really known as being a winter sky destination. It must be really popular during the winter as there were quite a few - now closed - hotels around..
Me, however being a total outsider and not following the crowd, decided to visit the place for a long weekend in the middle of summer.
The village of Mount Buller Village has got one restaurant open during this low season, and I think there were five of us in the whole village when I stayed there.
Oh and the grocery store has got all sorts of non fresh food like Chinese noodle soup or bean tins. And closes at 7pm.
Perfect for private gateway, perfect for hikes to experience the Alpine region of Victoria.
I took the Little Mount Buller Summit expanded with the Mount Buller Summit - this medium / hard trek is about 5 km-s but as I was carrying my camera gear including my -non travel- tripod the whole walk took me about 5 hours.
Okay I am not that unfit I just stopped along the trek to take photos. Okay it was also not a flat walk. So I am unfit. Hmm
As I was aiming for the sunset too, I missed the restaurant’s opening time - perfect day for dieters!
How to get to Mount Buller Village
Mount Buller is about 3 hours drive from Melbourne centre towards north east and it’s the gateaway to he highlands of Victoria.
The drive is a beautiful scenic drive that goes through the Yarra Ranges.
